Wonder Woman #6 (September 1943)
Words by William Moulton Marston, Art by Harry G. Peter

The Wonder Woman who flourished in the golden age of comics existed in the pre-Comics Code Authority era and her comic books in 1940s were notorious for containing a subversive “bondage and sapphic-undertones” subtext. Her only weakness is bondage. All Amazons wear indestructible “Bracelets of Submission”. While Wonder Woman is famous for playing bracelets & bullets, showing off how she is able to deflect automatic weapon fire; in Sensation Comics #4 (April 1942) it was revealed that Amazons temporarily lost their super strength if a male welded together their bracelets with chains.

On the cover of Justice league of America #151, Wonder Woman has been captured by a villain named Dr. Fortune and he is seen firing luck rays through her body in an attempt to create a “Luck League” to take on the rest of the JLA. From these rays an odd assortment of villains are created.
