Hawkgirl/Covergirl Collection #86

Hawkgirl #62 (May 2007) VF $2.49

Technically this is not Hawkgirl on the cover of Hawkgirl #62, but rather it is a Beta-3 Gizmoid, a weapon of Apokoliptan origin. This thing has reformatted itself to Hawkgirl’s appearance after being buried in the sands of Egypt for over 3,000 years. The Gizmoid imprinted itself upon Hawkgirl, altered its physical composition, duplicating Hawkgirls’s appearance and her powers right down to her Nth Metal wings.

Hawkgirl #62 was written by Walter Simonson with art by Renato Arlem. In the story titled “Death Hawk!”, the search to destroy Hath-Set continues so that the curse on Hawkgirl and Hawkman can at last be ended – leaving them free to be together…or forever apart.

The story is non-stop action as Hawkgirl takes on the Beta-3 Gizmoid and a small army of Female Furies, the honor guard for Darkseid, Lord of Apokolips. After all the fun and games were over, we see Kendra in front of her laptop as she continues to search for evidence of the location of the villain Hath-Set. Kendra is seeking to stop Hath-Set before he has a chance to once again murder Hawkman and Hawkgirl. She hopes that if Hath-Set is eliminated that the curse upon them will be lifted.

Her next stop is the Gotham Museum of Archaeology. Kendra knows only a few people in Gotham. She picks up the phone and makes a call to some guy named Bruce.
