Here is an update of the Hawkgirl/Covergirl Collection. I collect comic books and only ones with Hawkgirl on the cover (or some from the 1970s where she’s on the inside). This time around, I purchased four books from the 1970s, none of which have Hawkgirl posed on the cover. She does however appear in a story in each of the books.
Adventure Comics #451 (May 1977) VG $3.10
Next up we have the Adventure Comics #451 (May 1977). The sub-title under the masthead reads in larger letters starring Aquaman. The main feature story in Adventure Comics which previous belonged to Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes and for a while in the early 70s was claimed by Supergirl, now belonged to Aquaman.
In the second story featuring the Martian Manhunter, Hawkman and Hawkgirl appear with J’onn J’onzz in a story titled “The Suspects”. The story was written by Dennis O’Neil and was drawn by Michael Nielsen. In this brief story, the Martian Manhunter goes to visit Hawkman and Hawkgirl in their Thanagarian spaceship in orbit above Earth. It is not a friendly visit as J’onn J’onzz, suddenly and without warning, attacks Hawkman and Hawkgirl and accuses them of murder. Martian Manhunter and Hawkman wind-up unconscious & floating in space. Hawkgirl then risks her life to save both men.
